Blackpool is one of the most popular holiday destinations in the UK, with more than 6 million visitors each year, it has even been said that Blackpool is the closest the UK has to Benidorm. Blackpool has a lot to offer its visitors, there’s a variety of things to do and that is the main reason it attracts such a variety of people. From families wanting a UK based beach holiday, to a hen or stag party wanting a fun weekend away, Blackpool has something for everyone.
Whether you are planning a Blackpool day trip, a weekend away, or a family holiday, you should think about how to get to Blackpool and consider the benefits of hiring a 12-seater minibus (or even a 6-seater minibus) to help your party have comfortable travel.

How to get to Blackpool

The first part of organising Blackpool day trips or holiday is to figure out how to get to Blackpool. You can drive there in your own vehicle(s), using your own cars to convoy as a way of getting to Blackpool. Or you can hire one of the wide range of minibuses to allow your group to travel all together and in style. If you hire a minibus that also has a driver, then you have the peace of mind of knowing you can all enjoy the holiday and the driving responsibilities all fall onto someone else. There are lots of benefits to travelling to Blackpool by minibus which is why so many people think of a minibus when considering how to get to Blackpool.

What to do in Blackpool

There are so many fun things to do in Blackpool and as we’ve mentioned, there is literally something for everyone, so let’s take a look at exactly what you can do in the UK’s top tourist spot.

  • Beaches: Blackpool has beautiful sandy beaches that attracts families from all over the UK. Discover a wide, open beach, you can play, take long walks and enjoy the scenery.
  • Three Piers: Blackpool has three stunning piers. The North Pier was opened in 1863, now there are three piers including a Central Pier and a South Pier. On these piers you can go on theme park rides, you have a wide range of food options and you can literally eat your body weight in naughty food, you can see live shows, or you can just watch the tranquil sea.
  • Pepsi Max Big One: The UK’s tallest and fastest rollercoaster, reaching 87mph and soaring 235ft into the air, the rollercoaster offers fantastic views of the surrounding Blackpool area. The Pepsi Max Big One is surrounded by other rides and fun things to do, which is why this attracts so many different kinds of people.
  • Blackpool Tower: one of Britain’s most famous landmarks, inspired by the Eifel Tower and built in 1894, the tower is 518ft high and has a Skywalk with a large glass panel that you can walk across, looking down at the promenade below.
  • Blackpool Illuminations: With thousands of lights and oversized cartoon characters, people flock to Blackpool just to enjoy the illuminations every year.
  • The promenade: known as the Golden Mile, Blackpool’s promenade stretches from the South to the North pier, overlooking the stunning Irish Sea. There is also a Comedy Carpet that features songs, jokes and catchphrases from over 1000 comedians, using over 160,000 granite letters.
  • Donkey Rides: Blackpool is well-known for it’s donkey rides and now you don’t even need loose change to pay for your donkey ride, all you need is a credit card. Now, donkey’s even have card machines fitted to their saddles.
  • Circus and Mooky the Clown: the beautiful VictorianTower circus with a floor that descends into a fountained pool. This circus also has Mooky the clown, a fantastic performer who speaks six languages.
    •

Other fun things to do in Blackpool

There are lots of other fun things that people associate to Blackpool, while they are things you can do anywhere, they are somewhat synonymous to Blackpool. Including:

  • Arcades: Every seaside resort has an arcade, but Blackpool’s arcades have to be some of the best. Coral Island, for example, has pretty much any game and slot machine you can think of, as well as a monorail and a ghost train.
  • Fish and Chips: Nothing says British like Fish and Chips.
  • Charity Shops: there are tons of charity shops all around the world and a good majority of them are in Blackpool.
  • Trams: Lots of cities around the UK have trams, but Blackpool is known for its 11 miles of vintage tram system, which has now been running for more than 125 years.
  • Notarianni’s ice cream parlour: A famous Italian ice cream parlour that has been on Warterloo Road for more than 70 years.
  • Winter Gardens: Established in 1878, the Winter Gardens has 12 different venues, including the Opera House, one of the largest theatres in the UK.
  • Rock: okay so this isn’t an attraction, but let’s face it, one of the fun things about going to Blackpool is enjoying the rock!

ASA Travel is by far the best coach service in the whole of Birmingham. Recently went to Blackpool and the times they arrived at the locations are the exact and perfect time, the service of dropping us to our destination was 10 out of 10. This was not the first time however, every time we go through ASA Travel they are consistent and efficient with their service which is why I would never choose another company. Thank you for the excellent service you continuously offer.
